I would also like to apologise for anyone who logged on to our Facebook page to participate in our virtual meeting on November 18th. Unfortunately I was involved in a car accident that day and did not get home until 8.20pm and had no Internet access to let people know.
Our next virtual meeting will take place on December 16th at 8pm.
We would like to inform every one of the changes which are taking place in the way that we run our meetings.
In order to allow us to be more accessible and after the success of our trial virtual meetings, we have decided that it would be in the best interest of the community if we were to replace one of our monthly face to face drop-in meetings with a virtual meeting.
As of November 2016 we will hold a face to face drop in meeting on the 1st Friday of every month at Ystradgynlais Community Hospital between the hours of 10.30am and 12.30pm (we will be in the Adelina Day Room) where you will be able to meet face to face with an accredited LLL Leader and other local breastfeeding mums.
Then, on the 3rd Friday of each month we will hold a virtual meeting on our La Leche League of Swansea Valley Facebook page between 8pm and 9pm; where you will be able to share any issues, discuss any problems and offer and gain support from LLL Leaders and other mums from the comfort of your own home. All you need to do to participate is join our facebook book group and then log on at 8pm where the meeting post will be at the top of the page, and will explain exactly how it all works.
We hope to see you soon either face to face or on our Facebook….Or better still, both 🙂
Well, what can I say? Our leader applicants, Cath and Kirsty really did me proud during our first virtual meeting back on July 28th. It saw new mothers who had never attended one of our meetings get the opportunity to share issues and support with others and the hour flew by with us all getting absorbed in the conversations. Helen, one of our original leaders even participated to share her knowledge which was such an asset to the meeting.
Then the girls stood up yet again at our fundraising event on August 7th at Ystalyfera Rugby Club which saw local children take part in an indoor teddy bears picnic which turned into a birthday party type event with soft play, singing, crafts, clay modelling and lots of cakes 🙂
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success, including Maria, Sian of Partner Iaith, Jumping Clay of Neath, our relatives who helped out on the day, the club and both The Play Quarter and The Angel, Glynneath for raffle prizes.
Meetings will resume as normal in September so we hope to you all soon 🙂
We are so excited to announce that our very first virtual meeting will take place on Thursday July 28th between 8pm and 9pm on our Facebook Group. Whether you are currently breastfeeding, are supporting someone who is, have done so in the past or are just considering doing so, please join our Facebook Group and then log on between 8pm and 9pm to participate or just read 🙂
We understand that not everyone is able to come along to our drop-in meetings or may be nervous about doing so hence we hope that many people will benefit from this and any future virtual meetings we hold.
We can also announce our Teddy Bears picnic which will take place on August 7th at Ystalyfera Rugby Club between 12pm & 2pm. Entrance fee is £1 and there will be soft play, stories, clay modelling, cake stall, sweets stall, raffles and more….Please come along and support us and tell everyone you know about it!!!
This coming Friday we will be holding our very first meeting at our new venue being Ystradgynlais Hospital. Very exciting but nerve-wracking too as it is going to be all so new to us after over two years of lovely Saron Chapel. Hopefully we will see some new faces and of course, Saturday sees us running both a feeding and a changing tent at the Ystradgynlais Summer Fayre where we will be open to all mothers both breast and formula feeders. Please pop past and say hello 🙂
It was with a heavy heart that I started trying to source a new venue for the group back mid April after hearing the news that the leaders from Saron Chapel were moving on to pastures new and the new leaders coming in, living 15 miles away, were unable to commit to opening the church up for us two Fridays a month. Saron Chapel has been a pure sanctuary for the group over the last two years and has seen many mums strive to pass those hurdles in order to uphold a healthy breastfeeding relationship.
However I am pleased to say that although Saron wil be deeply missed, we will now be holding our meetings in two different venues in Ystradgynlais. During term times, we will be at the Ystradgynlais Community Hospital and during school holidays we will be at The Play Quarter on Woodlands Industrial Estate.
